Air Force Aid Society

The Air Force Aid Society is the official charity of the United States Air Force and provides financial assistance to Air Force members, both active duty and retired, reservists on Title X orders, and their family members, in emergency situations through interest-free loans or grants. Emergency assistance can include rent, utility bills, emergency travel due to death in the family, funeral expenses, car repairs and medical/dental expenses.

The Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) recognizes that Air Force families are subject to unique stresses due to the nature of military life -- deployments, remote tours of duty, permanent change of station (PCS) and extended working hours, etc. In an effort to help Air Force families to cope with the stressors of military life, the Society provides assistance through Community Enhancement Programs. These programs include Bundles for Babies, Car Care Because We Care, Childcare for PCS, Respite Care, and Childcare for Volunteers.

The H.H. Arnold Education grant provides scholarships for spouses and dependent children of Active Duty members.
For more information about any of these programs, contact the Pope AFB Airman and Family Readiness Flight at (910) 394-2538 or visit the Air Force Aid Society’s website at www.afas.org.
